Hey girl!
Setting goals is the first step to achieving anything you want – from personal to work stuff! So, good on you for trying to go from A to B!
There are different reasons why you may not be able to achieve your goals. Some of the reasons may be
- No plan of action
- Not sure how to take the first step
- No motivation
- Too many goals and being overwhelmed
- Setting too big goals in a short amount of time
If you know your ‘WHY’, the ‘how’ will somehow happen!
Many people always associate goals with either money or exercise. As human beings and that too women, we have so many facets (mother, sister, wife, daughter, friend, colleague and so on). So, our goals need to include all aspects of our life.
The first step is to break down your goals into personal, career, ‘ME’ time, health, money/finance and whatever else you may want in your life.
The second step is to choose only one goal for each of the categories and write them down.
The third step is to write down a plan of action and break it down into bite sized goals so you will know how to proceed.
The most important step is ACTION!
You can take all the time you want, but if you don’t take that first step, nothing will happen.
If this is what happened last time – you knew how to set goals, but didn’t have the motivation, here are some tips to keep you going:
- Find a like minded friend who you can partner up with to set goals and be accountable.
- Link achieving goals (regardless of how big or small) to a reward system for yourself. This should motivate you to achieve goals.
One step in front of the other is all it takes and then consistency! Be consistent and once you keep achieving one small goal after another, you should be on your way to becoming a pro at setting goals and smashing them!
Even though it is good to set goals, learn to be flexible and have an open mind.
Happy goal setting!
I would love to hear from you if you have set goals in the past and been able to achieve it and share some tips below.
