Are you willing to earn more than your partner?

Read that question again. Are you willing to earn more than your partner?

Your first impression (as a woman) will be ‘Why, yes, of course, Obu. I am willing to earn more than my partner’.

Quite often as women, we somehow sabotage our money-making capacity. We think that in order to earn more, we have to ‘sacrifice’ something. The sacrifice may be of our time, energy and sometimes even family. Hence, we play small and limit our earnings.

What if the more money you made, the better everyone’s life around you will be? This is very true. If you made 1.5 times or double your current income, you are not the only person benefitting. Your family benefits – you can spend on the little things you want to spend on. You can afford to make new purchases without using your credit card and the economy benefits. When you earn more income, you become generous and contribute more to charities. You can take your family on trips and can even go out on solo trips or getaways with your girl-friends. There is a ripple effect when you increase your earning potential.

Sometimes, the feeling of yuckiness that comes with wanting to earn more is because you feel that when there is so much going on in the world, so much poverty, death and war who are you to increase your income? Shouldn’t you be happy with whatever you currently have? Why aim for more?

At other times, you think that if you earn more than your partner/husband/other-half, the balance will be tipped and people will think you are greedy. You might even think this is true of your friends. So, to maintain peace and harmony, you choose to play small and stay where you are.

Another reason why you might not want to earn more is because you think there is only so much money in this world and if you grab more, then there will be less for another person.

Remember, money is just energy and there is enough for everyone on this planet. Maybe your money container is small. If you didn’t read my previous article on this, you can read it here.

Whatever your reason is, I know that you would like to earn more money. Because who doesn’t like to have more money in their life?

So, the next time that voice inside your head protests about making more money, STOP for a second and question it. Then work on changing whatever belief is holding you back.

If this sounds like something you need help with, I am more than happy to have a chat and see how I can help you with your beliefs around money.

READING RECOMMENDATION

The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent

I recently came across this book by Esther and Jerry Hicks. It is all about raising your vibration to serve you better in your everyday life. I am only halfway through but can say it has changed my thinking, a lot. This book ties in well with what I’ve written above and I highly recommend it.
