Have you read this book called “Optimised Woman’ by Miranda Gray? I was introduced to this book a few years ago and it blew my mind. The tagline for this book is ‘using your menstrual cycle to achieve success and fulfilment’. How cool is that?
I am an inclusive person but this one is especially for you ladies.
Most of us think of a menstrual cycle as an inconvenience and it is true for some women who really struggle with issues. However, what if I said that with a little awareness, you can make informed decisions (especially about your money) every single month? Beyond its biological implications, Gray reveals how understanding and tracking our menstrual cycle can benefit various aspects of life, including financial decision-making.
Let me share my top learnings. I have added my thoughts on how we (women) experience the four seasons every month.
Phase 1: Menstruation (Days 1 to 6)
Season is winter – Reflect and Recharge:
During menstruation, a woman experiences a natural dip in energy. This phase serves as a powerful time for introspection, self-care, and reassessment. Take advantage of this period to step back and reflect on your financial goals and life aspirations. Use this introspective time to plan, set intentions, and create a vision for the future.
Phase 2: Pre-ovulation (Days 7 to 13)
Season is spring – Focus and Planning:
As the body prepares for ovulation, energy levels begin to rise, accompanied by clarity and focus. During this phase, women possess heightened analytical skills and increased optimism. Utilize this stage to make financial decisions that require attention to detail, such as budgeting, investing, or strategizing entrepreneurial ventures. Embrace this time to envision and plan your future success.
Phase 3: Ovulation (Days 14 to 20)
Season is summer – Networking and Creativity:
Ovulation marks the peak of a woman’s fertility and vitality, providing a unique opportunity for dynamic networking and creativity. This phase offers an excellent opportunity to negotiate contracts, salary raises, or affirm your worth in professional settings. Harness the heightened social skills and magnetic charm that come with this phase to network with potential mentors, collaborators, or clients. Additionally, tap into your creative potential during this time, as innovative ideas and solutions may flow effortlessly. Consider exploring avenues such as creative side projects or alternative investment opportunities during this fertile phase.
Phase 4: Pre-menstrual (Days 21 to 28)
Season is autumn – Evaluate and Consolidate:
The pre-menstrual phase, often accompanied by fluctuating emotions, invites women to evaluate past choices and consolidate their energy. Use this stage to review your financial and personal decisions made earlier in the cycle and assess their efficacy. Be mindful of potential impulsive or emotionally-driven choices during this time, and focus instead on evaluating your progress and defining future steps.
By tapping into the unique strengths and characteristics within each phase, we can effectively navigate our menstrual cycles, acting to our advantage in the pursuit of success. Embrace the inherent ebb and flow of your cycle, allowing it to guide you towards a more fulfilling and prosperous life.
