I want to quit my job and start a business, but I’m scared I will fail.

Have you ever dreamed of starting your business or a dream project for long, but never got started? Fear is the number one inhibitor of many women achieving success.

I am pretty sure you would have heard about the success stories of many women entrepreneurs –Naomi Simson, Arianna Huffington, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, J K Rowling and so many others. If all these ladies had not taken the first step despite the huge amount of fear they had, they wouldn’t be where they are now.

It is a big part of the entrepreneur journey to fail numerous times. You have to consider these as ‘learning experiences’ rather than failures. If you can take this attitude to everything you try, you will have a rich life with so many experiences!

How do I know? I started my business nine years ago, not with the very attitude I’m talking about here. Through my journey, for the first few years I was afraid of failing – so I didn’t do many new things. But after a while, I got bored of being the same as everyone. My very nature was to be different – stand out from the crowd and here I was being bland!

So, I asked myself what’s the worst that can happen if I fail? Lose some time? No one will like the product I created – yeah, so what? I made the decision to try new things but also to thoroughly enjoy the process rather than just focus on the end result. Here I am nine years later, being very proud of all the things I have tried and where my business is now. I’ve written a book (Smart Women, Smart Home loans), gone on radio, tried webinars, spoke on stages, been nominated for awards, tried workshops!

Every time you fall down, pick yourself up and try again. Get the help you need, as you go along – never be afraid to ask for help. When you are ready, doors open and you will get all the connections you need – either directly or indirectly!

Some entrepreneurs when they are passionate about starting a new venture hold on to their day job while they build up their business. Once the business gets some traction, they quit their day job and become a full time entrepreneur.

Maybe that is what you need to do?

Are you an entrepreneur and you’d like to share your journey? Or are you wanting to start something new? I would love to hear your thoughts..
